My juniors suck so much that it’s actually affecting my mental health. I’m annualizing 2700 and have zero help except first years who give zero fucks to accept feedback or take instructions. I’ve been asking for more help for months and keep getting told everyone is crushed. Just want to curl up and cry.

I’ve found giving them direct feedback and vocalizing expectations tends to help. Over email works, would run through AI to edit tone when you’re feeling exasperated before sending so you don’t give psychopath vibes

I personally would not advise that op run it through ai unless op is already familiar enough with ai and how to tweak the output so it doesn't sound like ai. Like tbh I would immediately distrust any feedback I received from anyone who sent me an obviously ai-generated message because I have this toxic trait of assuming those people don't actually know how to write sentences

Just try to remember that despite the hours, it’s just a job. When I started I was consistently getting extremely annoyed, anxious, and frustrated/angry because of the poor quality of instructions, or the poor work product of some colleagues. Then I was told to just suck it up because it’s just a job. There’s more to enjoy in life and no one, especially a colleague, should be given the opportunity to impact your mental health. Given the hours, the money and the responsibilities, it’s easier said than done, but just try to bear this in mind. If this is too much, switch firms. At your level, there are plenty of opportunities out there.

Hey gang. If you exited BL or are looking to exit, where did you go and, more importantly, how did you figure out the path? I sometimes feel like career steps after BL for most associates are organic and less deliberate. But I’m lost with where to go next with my career. Entering fourth year PE M&A associate. Ready to leave.
