I’d rather quit than revise this agreement.

I think it gets a little more sensitive if it is international. But domestically why would anyone care???

I’ve done it and so far nobody has ever said anything to me about it

If you don’t have an in office requirement then it shouldn’t be a problem as long as you are still available during the same business hours, etc.

It’s the same as a vacation. It’s fine.

Yeah, they can't have it both ways. Either we're reachable on vacation and can work from other countries, or our vacations are protected and we can't work from other countries.

Not unless you drop the ball.

I got a call from my IT department.
They’ll do this also to verify it’s not someone attempting to perpetrate a phishing scam via your email account too
My firm is jumpy about working from other jurisdictions due to tax issues. They have declined people’s requests to work from certain countries in the past. Idk what they do and if they can find out when you don’t tell them in advance though!

I’ve done this several times pre and post COVID. I can’t imagine anyone would notice unless you’re doing it for some extended period of time unless you’re in a high security risk jurisdiction where they don’t want you bringing firm laptops, etc.
Think you should be very careful about how you record your time and you should think hard about attributing time working away as though it were time worked in your office/jurisdiction of your office. Generally working from another jurisdiction is not a problem and firms are used to handling the tax issues because it comes up constantly with the amount of travel, etc., that lawyers have typically done. But if you record that time as though you worked it in the jurisdiction in which your office is located when you were in another jurisdiction, you are not only aiding and abetting tax fraud, but you are putting the firm in a very precarious legal position. If you were to be questioned, expect your judgment to be doubted forever from that point forward and you could even have to kiss your tenure at that firm — and all of your hard work up until that time — goodbye.
