I asked if I can bring a cashiers check on closing day and they confirmed that was fine.
Its fraud. I've closed on many properties and bank has always warned about this. Call your trusted mortgage contact to confirm.
Have you called her? My realtor has a big disclaimer about wire transfers via email. Tread carefully
I wouldnt wire anything until you have confirmed/reconfirmed via a separate/different channel, the instructions and the account #. Each time i have closed, I took a certified check to closing (even through they preferred wire) as there are so many horror stories with wire fraud with real estate transactions
I’ve never done it before, always brought a certified check.
I wired a few days prior. It was fine.

If you know the request is valid (there’s tons of fraud around this!), it’s not uncommon to send the wire a day or two early so that it clears ahead of closing. But definitely double check to make sure the info you have is the correct account and bank!
Yea I called up my mortgage broker and also emailed my real estate agent to confirm. Wiring huge amount of money is just stressful. They need a better way
Wouldn’t do it. Wires are some relic from the 90s so easy to scam them since it is just a bunch of numbers.

A check isn’t much different. It’s literally the same numbers on a piece of paper. You can write the required information on a napkin and as long as you have the correct fields, it’s considered legal.
I brought a cashiers check for my first house. Did a wire for my 2nd house. Wired a day or two before closing but I set the date and terms. I also physically went into the title lawyer to get the wire instructions due to my concern of fraud.
I wired a few days prior. It was fine. However, the wire instructions were sent by title company through a secure message.
I’ve always wired. Also some some states require funds the day before closing. Cashiers check are commonly counterfeited now. Last time I bought a car, they wouldn’t take a cashiers check without running a credit check (which I wouldn’t let them do).
