So as somebody who is in your position at one point, people won’t look at you as a product manager. They’ll look at you as a tax person who kinda understands technology. And to be frank. If you went out to go get a true product management role at technology company you might not be able to keep up because if you’re working at the big four, they are not set up to properly trained product managers. It’s the harsh reality. i’ve interviewed plenty of big four product managers and some within tax technology and they’re just out of their element.
Because you make so much money, it’s unlikely you’re gonna be able to go anywhere else at this point unless you’re willing to take a pay cut. You could get that salary at Amazon, but you’re definitely moving down a level.
I would try to ride it out and make Partner and then you can always transform your role.
@SD1 - I like a little bit of both. Architecting solutions and believing it enough to sell it.
