Why doesn’t your insurance cover it?
My neighbors house got struck by lightning and the insurance offered $6000 they got a few independent estimates and the Insurance ended up paying $40k to replace the full roof, smoke damage, all electronics etc. so don’t just settle for the first offer your insurance provides.
Most roofers will eat your deductible. If you go through your insurance agent, they may have a roofer guy
You are required to pay your deductible. Any discount that is applied would have to be on the total project.
For example, if a $20k repair and a 10% discount the project would be $18k. Your deductible still has to be paid first before insurance is paid out.
Many roofers will say "it's fine, I'll cover your deductible with a discount", but it is technically insurance fraud. Most likely, nothing will ever come of it. But it should be something you're aware of.

Fight with the insurance. Make them pay as much as possible. I hate insurance companies
I have this ACV (actual cash value) insurance with State Farm so they only cover 64% because roof it is 9 years old. They appraissed roof at 25k, added some other damage, and gave me 13k (after 5k dedutible). So assuming the roof cost 25-30, I pay 12-17k out of pocket. I can afford it, just looking for a good contractor.
The contractor was there. How does that help (honest question)? I plan to send to the contractor, but looking for other options as well.
