Newbie here - do I need to credit points to the airline that I have status with to get the alliance benefits? For example, I have star alliance gold alliance status (with ANA status) and have an upcoming flight, do I need to credit points to ANA to get star alliance benefits or can I credit points to united while getting the benefits?

Cancelled flight this evening, called the AA folks and they said it was mechanical and to check with the local agent for hotel/meal. Local agent says it's weather, I booked a night to just get CONT.

Lyft driver delayed picking me up 30 min, resulting in me canceling my ride and asking hotel to call me a “yellow taxi” to get to the airport because it was 5am and all ubers/lyfts were 15 min. Specifically said yellow. Hotel calls me a private lux SUV and the driver got out of the car to handshake the man who called and said hi (honestly money couldve been passed). I then get hit with a $180 ride. Marriott website says taxi should be $65. Should I complain or let it go?
