Not a very active bowl are we? The others I’m in seem to be very creatively focused. So... what is your biggest source of professional anxiety? Mine is my background is mostly linear TV and no one seems interested in training anyone over 35 anything new. I’m begging for it and there is only so much I can do on my own. I’m worried about longevity. I work hard, I care a lot and and I get great reviews, but no one seems to care if I stay or go.

From my experience id say most corporate companies don’t care about individuals, nothing personal. As for TV longevity I wouldn’t worry as we still have radio departments and print while those mediums where pronounced “dead” 10+ years ago. My personal opinion would be Try to be an expert in TV rather than trying to get into digital or something else because in a few years TV experts are going to be so hard to come by.

I can relate to this. Most media positions require a certain level of expertise in digital which is hard to keep up with if you aren't in it consistently. My background is primarily offline media but have taken online courses and obtained a ton of certifications in digital but like I mentioned, if you don't have the opportunity to use it regularly, the courses and certifications can only get you so far.

When non-ad ppl ask you what do you do? In terms of title; do you tell them “copywriter”? Or immediately assume they dont know and might confuse it with copyright infringement, and just end up telling them that you’re a writer or a creative director, and skip the hassle
