M&A is more relaxed and has more predictable hours relative to other practice groups.
Where in the world do you work for this to be true
Deals. Deals. Deals.
As in, you like doing deals? What part of it exactly?
Exit opportunities. M&A is generally the largest (or one of the largest) practice group at most Big Law firms, so I wanted the flexibility of having lateral options if needed. M&A can also be a well-rounded transactional/corporate practice, so you can slot into a wider variety of corporate counsel/in-house roles.
More M&A people get promoted every year than many other groups. And deals are cool.
The atmosphere is pretty electric. Lots of money involved, every deal is different and has its own twists and turns, heavy negotiation, always last minute fires, and the feeling of getting it over the finish line is amazing.
Exit opportunities + opportunity to keep my practice broad.
