One of my wildest year ends to date. I am a senior associate and have actually had pretty tame holidays so far, my summers have usually been much busier (which is the opposite of the stereotype).
I also think this is the time of year that clients delude themselves into thinking deals can be done by year end. It’s never the firms fault things don’t get done, but one side or the other isn’t ready or too many essential people are out. A handful of my deals won’t sign/close by 12/31, but at this point everyone is still proceeding as if they will.
I feel you. Clients don’t understand what it takes to get the deal done.
Hit my hours so I’m doing everything I can to delay until 1/1/2020. If I’m going to work for free I’d rather handle a pro bono matter
