Nah! Be kind and just let it go. Recruiters and hiring managers are notorious for ghosting candidates. Take it as a page in your own book. Sit and relax. Your training worked well.

I like this! don't let this take up free rent in your head.
Well, I suggest you mark that candidate in your system as no hire because you know they will be back and applying for other openings. This guy sounds like a flake you're better off without them. They did you a favor!
Sounds like you weren’t their first choice?
How long have they been silent? You have no idea what might have happened - they could have had a family tragedy and need the time.
Alternatively… make offers that candidates can’t refuse.
Is a simple email too much to ask? A quick thank-you note to let the other party know you're not interested would be more than enough
I agree with this haha
Hire the second-best? You can’t control other people’s behavior, only your own.
As for ghosting, it could be any number of things, ranging from finding another job they like more to getting hit by a truck and being in a coma.
The only things that can minimize the odds of it happening are moving through the process quickly, setting clear deadlines for them AND yourself, and communicating often throughout.
I don’t believe these things
They accepted the offer so what the offer was doesn’t matter to the rest of us
Sometimes there are no red flags! Just an unlucky experience
