Oh my god. I am finally done with the CPA. It took me 5 years and I failed so many times, lost credit, spent thousands of dollars on different study materials, coffees, pens, etc. I can’t believe this day has finally come for me. If you’re struggling please don’t give up and don’t compare yourself to someone else. It will eventually happen for you if you keep pushing!

Thank you for this. I just took my 14th exam on Saturday and I've passed 2 (hopefully 3) 🤦🏼‍♀️ I took 4 attempts for BEC, 4 attempts for AUD, 5 attempts for REG, and 1 attempt for FAR. I want this so bad.

like

You sound like me! It took me 18 tries to finally pass. Just hang in there and believe in yourself.

Congrats OP! I can’t wait to feel that feeling myself! What order did you take the exams? Any tips for BEC?

like

I took BEC, AUD, FAR, and REG. When I first started studying I was trying to do too much in one sitting. The information wasn’t sticking and I didn’t give myself time to review. And when I started work I had a hard time balancing studying and working. What helped me was to pace myself, to write down the concepts I really was struggling with and reading those every night, having my fiancé quiz me, and honestly having faith in myself. I also stopped comparing my journeys to others and making myself feel bad or stupid.

Congrats!!!! Make sure to do something nice for yourself 😊

What study materials did you end up using to pass?

I started with Becker and then switched to Wiley.

I would like to first commend the attorney for starting this bowl. I attended a T4 school and was stuck in doc review for years. However through networking, I made connections which gave me a chance to get my foot through the door. One I did I knew they would have to physically drag me out of that firm if they wanted me to leave. Now I’m a partner at a multi-state/national firm. I’m always looking for similarly situated young attorneys to mentor and help. Anyone out there feel free to pm me.

Hi! I have worked in management roles in tech, mainly in analytics, for approximately 10 years. My TC has fluctuated (currently around 135K CAD), but it seems like it's relatively easy to breach the 100K bar, but hard to breach the 150K bar. I now work at the CBC, but I have worked in the private sector too. What is the most realistic way to move to 200K? 1) Continue moving the ladder to a VP position, 2) Switch to Pre-Sale, 3) Switch to Consulting, 4) Work from a U.S. company from Canada.

Will most companies teach me what I need to know or should I go and find skills to learn on my own?
