honestly the concern level should correlate with how much you're investing in learning to use AI well, not just whether AI exists. the people I see doing fine are the ones who've moved past "I use ChatGPT sometimes" to actually integrating AI into their core work. the gap between casual users and people with real AI fluency is growing fast.
Learning to USE it for the “job” IMO is more pragmatic and would make more sense for day to day productivity. Thinking it REPLACES you is not practical. Companies would benefit from their workforce being upskilled - they can’t afford total loss of domain knowledge, IMO.
0. I was unemployed for over a year, tired of layoffs all the time in tech, couldn't get any interviews, and the ones I did they ghosted, so what I did was I created a small vertical slice of their product, using their techstack, and bringing that to them. Turns out they didn't care, so I went to the next step and just built it out into a marketable MVP and now I don't need to work for anyone. When I'm bored I just scroll through ycombinator startup ideas and then build a clone of their product and sell it lmao. Of course none of these will scale into the millions by myself but it makes more than enough to live in my town and not care about gas prices :)
Sounds like you need a healthy dose a of skepticism. Don't believe everything you read.
Rising Star
I am living that nightmare right now, almost 7 months into unemployment. It does even have ti be a direct replacement where AI is actually doing a person's job, many of us have been let go simply to free up the cash to invest in datacenters and developers.
Zero
LOL zero (unless the bubble bursts)
Zero, AI can help with efficiency and speed but cannot replace critical thinking, governance, communication, stakeholder management,’collaboration.
Also AI can never been 100% accurate therefore human oversight is necessary. I seem to recall when there was an outage on WhatsApp the whole world was on standstill but it did not stop alternative means of communication. Personally i would not put too much weight on this myth that AI is taking all the jobs
It can be accurate enough though, as to replace a few job positions with one who will do the oversight. Overly optimism is a form of denial in the face of danger
I need a job ASAP
