I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

Definitely the new normal. My company and the companies that my friends work for are all trying to maximize profit at the expense of employees. They don't really care if they burn us out anymore because the job market is bad so it is easy to replace us. It could also be a sign of a bigger reorg, there is no way to know for sure. The only thing you really could do is start job hunting, but the grass isn't always greener.

Yeah I’m thinking now of just staying, put my head down put in the work. Hoping to come out of this rewarded for my effort but knowing they could be well taking advantage of me.

I would not just absorb it silently. I would document the extra scope and raise it carefully, even if it is not about money yet.
That is happening everywhere right now, and it is really unfortunate. It can definitely be the early stages of a bigger reorg. I would definitely keep track of everything you are doing and advocate for a raise at some point.

All good points. Sounds like documenting is the plan right now and wait till the company is doing better.
If the remaining can carry the workload, then management is never going to replace them!
