I try to spend time with my parents and brothers and his kids. I don’t have children of my own or a husband. I don’t have my own family to come home too. But I try to find time to do things I enjoy when I can.
Very essential. Helps to keep you from getting burnout or frustrated.
You nailed it. I’ve seen paralegals keep entire firms running with zero backup. I also worked with a paralegal who used to keep a Friday pizza night with her kids, no matter what. She said it was her weekly reminder of what mattered. What’s your non-negotiable time for yourself?
Personally, my weekends are precious to me.
I use that time to wind off and spend it with loved ones.
All office work stays in the office until Monday😂
It's a really exhausting career path, I'm not sure I would have chosen this had I known just how exhausting it is. I am a big cyclist so I spend a lot of time outside of work cycling and signing up for races so I'm always training for something. I also love to spend time with friends and family I love. I'm getting better at protecting my weekend freetime
True that!!. Unfortunately, this is how it is for us Paralegals and Legal Assistants.
I’m glad you are able to make time for yourself by Cycling and spending time with your people.
As Paralegals sometimes we have to let our attorneys fail, not everything is our fault. Only then will they realize they need to *HIRE help and not just try to dump it all on one person. I saw one firm lose two paralegals because they refused to hire help.

Unfortunately, my loved ones are spread out across the USA and one is in and out of the country due to the military. I agree with you, we do need work-life balance, time management, and yes strong support from those over us. However, we also need to learn the power of No.
