Job hopping is still the move. It's harder now, sure, but it’s still the fastest way to boost pay and title. The trick is being super strategic. Build a solid story for each move, keep your LinkedIn sharp, and network like crazy. The market’s tougher, but people are making those jumps. It just takes more hustle than it used to.

Job hopping can be a fast track for salary jumps but only if you’re in a hot field or have in-demand skills. Lately, I've found it’s less about timing and more about network and personal branding. Cold apps don’t seem to cut it anymore. Recruiters want proof you’re worth the switch before giving you a shot.

Yeah, I tried the job-hopping strategy and hit a wall recently. I’ve been ghosted by jobs that looked like a perfect match. What’s helped a little is targeting smaller companies and reaching out directly to the CFO or controller. I think people underestimate how much of this game is just visibility and timing.

The frequent moved can hurt you if you don’t have serious leverage (e.g, no cpa). I find it interesting people talk so much about the advantages of hopping but no one talks about the drawbacks. A lot if not most people interviewing and are in a position to hire, aren’t all fans of the hopping. So the big caveat is be strategic and consider how many times you do it.

I was hearing a lot of that "switch jobs every couple of years" rhetoric before Covid, but people are silent on that now. I think a lot of folks realize that the job market is not sustaining such frequent career moves. I wish it was, but I'm with you, actually getting interviews feels a lot harder than it used to be.

Market shifts definitely change the career trajectory - keep you options open, but stay put until your new offer letter is signed and delivered.

It’s worth the leap. I have not had a job over 4 years long since 2020.

I don’t have a problem getting interviewed but questions on changing jobs so frequently always comes up.

Home office preference question. I am getting ready to redo the layout of my home office. One option I'm considering would have my desk facing a wall. I am wondering if anyone with this current setup has any feedback about it. I would face the wall so that I would have a better background for video conferences (am on about half the day) and also my cord situation would be cleaner.
