Oh my gosh! That's terrible! I am so sorry you had to go through this. Please do everything you can to stop them from getting away with this reprehensible behaviour!
Disheartening Decline in Mission and Values at Goodwill
Review:
There has been a noticeable increase in complaints from both employees and consumers about Goodwill’s negative practices, and unfortunately, much of it rings true.
Pricing: Donated items are being marked so high that consumers often find better deals at Walmart, Target, or Marshall’s. This goes against the very mission of serving communities in need.
Pay Gap: The wage disparity between frontline staff and leadership is astronomical. Many hardworking employees are struggling so severely that some are reportedly sleeping in their cars in Goodwill parking lots because their pay cannot cover both rent and gas.
Workplace Climate: Employees’ concerns are not only ignored but, in some cases, those who speak up too loudly are quietly pushed out or terminated under the guise of poor performance. Fear, not support, drives much of the culture.
DEI: While Goodwill publicly promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion, internally it often feels like little more than a façade. There’s no consistent effort behind the slogans.
Overall Environment: The organization is being run by fear. People are afraid to advocate for themselves, address wrongs, or “rock the boat,” knowing unemployment is a very real risk.
Goodwill has the potential to make a meaningful difference, but without transparency, fair pay, and genuine inclusion, it risks alienating both the people it serves and the people who work tirelessly to keep its doors open.
Report it to the EEOC immediately and seek legal advice. Most harassment cases are on contingency, so you don't have to pay a retainer.
Really?! I haven’t gone to any legal authority because I am a single mother and I can not afford to pay for a lawyer or anything like that. But I have so many more terrible, completely horrifying experiences at Goodwill and watching how the “bosses” treat everyone else like literal garbage
Amen 👏 I agree manager at store #115 on Rosemont Rd very disrespectful and corporate people care less about others staff opinions and some actions need to be taken 😉!!!
