Original offer:
83000/yr salary

Counter:
93500/yr salary w/ 10k sign-on

Response:
84800/yr with 10k sign-on

My go/no go mental number:
88500/yr with 7.5k signon

Based on my conversation with HR, I've maxed out the base pay number. Does it sound reasonable to come back with 84800/yr with 12.5k sign-on since they weren't close to the base pay number I was looking for?

Manager at Slalom. I've received an offer from a boutique that specializes in D&A work and does more ML work as well. The offer is lower TC (180k -> 160k) with a similar level of responsibility (mix of hands-on, engagement/people leadership, and biz dev). Is it crazy to take the offer? I generally like Slalom but feel like a lot of the technical work I do in my market isn't super interesting. There are growth opportunities here but not sure if it keeps good exit options open later.

Responded to a recruiter to set up a HR initial call at a start up, but due to my availability I got set up with a manager from the team I’m being recruited for. Is this call any different to a initial HR call?

Which of these 2 offers would you take:

1. Chief of staff to CEO at a luxury/fashion company, part of a larger luxury conglomerate (think LVMH, Richemont). TC ~ $300K. Cool perks and fun job. Good path to leadership within conglomerate. Can walk to office.

2. Director of Corp. strategy at a legacy CPG company (think Kraft, Danone, Campbell). TC ~$350K. Less “sexy” industry. Clear path for leadership. Commute time to office much longer (1.5 hrs of commute a day).
