Unless you plan to stay in consulting or go for a field which is very prestige focused (i.e. private equity), you’ll see no benefit. And honestly, since you’re a Manager. You’re not going to a PE deal team, you’re going to the PE Ops team, and you should be able to get interviews at most of those teams except for the mega funds and some UMM from a T2
This is a great reply
You will likely get leveled down as others say. This is normally a good thing to help people adjust to the new firm. While the job is very similar there are norms of getting things done at each firm that are learned. If you are a top performer there is more upside. Comp, exit opportunities, more interesting projects, better learning, etc. Laterals have an uphill battle so be aware that it can be tough to find your footing, but many have been successful. I just would be careful if you aren’t consistently a top performer at your current firm. The bar is objectively higher

If you think you will stick for a few years it’s worth it
The main benefits will be access to roles that are usually only filled by MBB folks like specific s&o, biz ops, and corp strat roles
You will probably get down leveled. Up to you.
