Creating a “playground” model to try different iterations of a building,… it was never meant to see the light of day. The Team used it to start the collaborative model. Clean up was a nightmare, and would have been easier to draw it again without all the junk… All for the sake of “not redrawing” and “saving time”.

Setting up and building a beautiful job just to have engineers go behind me and wreck it with poor modeling practices.

Well in fairness Revit is a movement driven by the architectural firms in creating a 3D atmosphere that is supposed to be collaborative. The fault lies in that when engineers shouldn't have to work in a 3d atmosphere for majority of things (it's more analysis than to scale).
Example: architects care about location of receptacle whereas electrical engineers care about the quantity and positioning of them.

My Redfin agent recently quit with one day notice to start his own firm. He was the one behind my deal and did a lot of work and help with negotiation. However Redfin called me and said they put their top regional lead on transaction which is set to close in 10 days. I’m conflicted with what to do. As a buyer I know I can switch firms with seller’s consent and it won’t impact the deal, or will it? The agent said if I went with him he’s throw me an additional incentive to close with him.

Hello!
Interested in knowing salaries of Architectural Designers at AEC firms, and the change in compensation upon licensure in the USA (early career/ closer to graduation). Any bonuses or promotions upon being a licensed Architect?

I’m a Senior Project Manager at an engineering consulting firm - I don’t have my PE as of yet and my compensation is $100k + bonus. Just a bit of background, at my firm a Senior PM is someone with 8+ years exp. I have 10 years experience and on track to making Principal in a couple of months. I seriously think I’m on the low end of the salary range as a Senior PM. What’s a typical Senior PM or Principal compensation in your firm?

I’d to get a job in a small architecture firm or work for a developer to help build up my network. For the past 6 years I’ve taught high school architecture and engineering and done real estate on the side. I have an industrial design degree and tremendous construction and real estate sales knowledge. I also started architecture school but stupidly switched to industrial design. I don’t want to go back to school for architecture. Ultimately, I want to own my own company developing real estate.

I’m a designer in the planning/landscape architecture dept. of a CE firm. Extremely frustrated that after 4+ years and multiple asks, I’m not getting the in-field construction experience I’ve asked for. I know that my designs could be better if I could see how things are actually built but I get slapped in the face with “I need you in the office designing/drafting” or “there’s no budget to have you go out” and then sends an intern to inspect instead. I’m 5 yrs out of college. Any advice?

Do any RA’s or PE’s on here sign and seal for their company? My firm is trying to bestow these responsibilities on us and I’m holding out for an increase in comp. Everyone else that will be signing have a more senior role then me. Any feedback is appreciated.

Context:

I recently accepted a position at the company and have been working as a temp for the past 3 months. And unfortunately the compensation package is also lacking.
