we are all doing social tbh
Yeah just never handled doing the day to day, make 10 posts in 5 days sort of thing where every one in 300 is sorta fun
I know it can feel kind of like that since agency wise there’s an aversion to social for some reason even though everything inevitably ends up on social. You probably have smaller budgets but sometimes it’s a smaller team so you can be a little more nimble in getting fun ideas up the ladder. Some of my favorite work came from “social” briefs. I think if it’s purely just a plug and play type of social then yeah Id probably bring up that you want some more opportunities to still be on campaign work.
Some perspective. Although paid media still feels like prestige, nobody wants to be interrupted by paid ads, the public hates them.
Social on the other hand is where they choose to spend their time. Brands that do social well engage with people in a way that no paid ad could do. You can be as creative as any other channel in my opinion with fewer sped bumps for cost, length and timing. Social could let you do nearly anything you can imagine if you’re doing it right.
That said, most brands are terrible on social, are way too addy and don’t get how to hang. But I think there’s huge potential to make super creative ideas come to life for next to nothing.
So you’re telling us people spend their time on social because there are no ads there?
Could also be that the social work is funded and they want to make sure they keep you. Or that this project has a lower fee and need someone of your level angle the branded work could afford to shield an acd or something. Or it could be a demotion. Or they think you’d be good at social.
It’s hard to say without more details. But it’s not necessarily a bad thing. It could be. But not necessarily. There are so many factors, esp with holding co politics.
