Get a SAD lamp changed everything!
SP1 I just got the best selling one on Amazon! They are lots of them and IMO all have the same functionality except some added on features which I don’t know about . The Basic ones (which cost around £50-100 should do the trick

Yes, I have seasonal affective disorder.
My behavioral cocktail:
Dawn simulator alarm clock, high lux light therapy, exercise, and dusk light exposure outside when you can.
My chemical cocktail:
Stimulants of choice to whatever higher intensity you can manage sans anxiety. Vit D, B12, and fish oil
My recommendation is to block 30-45 min on your calendar every day during peak sunlight in your area. Then go outside and go for a walk. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel.

need exercise, try to find a way to vacation south a few long weekends during the winter.
Super difficult to take long weekend trips because my partner works weekends in-person. Life is hard.
I second finding a way to work out. It’s super cliche but I recently got a stationary bike and now I feel like when I can’t go walk outside I hope on that for some body heat and endorphines. Some even have just “scenic ride” where you can just ride the bike and see beautiful scenery. This doesn’t help the waistline but I’ll bake too. At least it makes henhouse smell nice and it’s tiring. Then give the cookies to friends and neighbors :)
My girlfriend has the same issue. Take vitamin D, workout, and buy a mood light.
Move South!
Pro
I bought a sunlight and a light alarm clock. Then I moved to a condo with so much more natural light, absolute game changer. I could not get through my day without the sunlight before, so I absolutely recommend if your natural light is restricted.
Totally agree that figuring a way to get more light, whether via lamp or window exposures or being outside in sun for 30 mns a day, would help. But gotta be real depending where you are in the Northeast it can be brutal, like to me the difference btwn Boston and NYC in this regard was significant. In my case moving to a warmer climate than either really made a difference, plus the outdoors are now such a huge part of my life whereas before it was more like an element to be wrangled or powered through.
PA generally causes a lack of D all around. Try to get out for a walk sometimes or chill in your backyard or balcony (assuming you have those)
I dunno, PA is full of D’s if memory serves
Seriously, think about relocating to a state or even a country where it’s less of an issue. Worked for me.

@EY, I have the same situation with the deep northern ties (& quite serious SAD) — last year we ended up reloing to FL for Jan-Mar to visit snowbirding family. It was life changing.
Could you consider doing 3-5 weeks remote?
I have this issue. I don’t get off work until 6pm at the earliest, and it’s long dark by then. It makes me feel like the day is over and I can’t go out and do things. The only thing that’s been helping is pushing myself to get to the gym after dinner and to run some of my errands during the week rather than waiting until the weekends. That way I feel like my evenings are still productive.
