Relatively new partner in a corporate group with my own book of business and frustrated about getting clients to pay. I work with companies that are usually struggling a bit but not without $. They will pay their auditors (bc audits wont be done otherwise), advisors etc. and I’m lenient, but when I ask it’s always a little bit at a time or cash is tight. Any tips would be appreciated.

Stop doing their work until they pay, just like the auditors.

Require a retainer. Then when its exhausted, if they don’t pay, pens down until they do. Pretty standard

like

I agree. And it doesn't matter if the more established partners do something different. Requiring larger upfront retainers has freed me up to do fee-generating work rather than chasing down clients for past due amounts.

Looking for some advice.. Manager left, I was given their work. Promoted few months after, but not to the role of my previous manager. Rec opened, I applied, didn't get it. We hired the new person and in my hopes to offload some of that original work back to them. I was told I'm going to continue to do everything my previous manager was doing. I'm still not a product manager even tho my previous manager was and the new manager is. Applying to jobs and concerned my title is holding me back.

One of my friends works as a Director in Nagarro. She has been there for 7 years and has a CTC of 42 with total yoe 17. Per current trend this is low even though she is a constant top performer. She says that even though delivery people play a pivotal role, they are not paid well. In her team, she sees technical people earning 45-50 at 10-11 yoe. So the factor is 2.5 for delivery vs 4.5 to 5 for technical roles. Per her, this is quite common in Nagarro & she is not an outlier. ctd in comments

Big Law Dads: How much time do you usually take off when your wife has a baby? And do you actually get to take off, or do you just end up working from home half the time? My wife is due Mid-December, and I’m staffed on 4 M&A deals trying to close by year end, so it’s not looking promising.

I want to get out of ID so badly. I don’t mind the work but the hours are just killing me. I just started at a new firm less than 6 months ago and I am already desperate to get out. It is not the firm or the people. I just hate the high billables. I have been applying to other jobs but I think I may need a recruiter for help. Any recommendation for a great recruiter in NYC?
