What jobs are currently paying 85k?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Says average pay is 30.5 for Arkansas hvac tech, so with 11 years I'd expect at least that amount. 25/hr is way too low. I'd emphasize any certifications or management experience you have and how you can start contributing from day 1 with your experience
Should I explain my feelings how accepting 25/hr is taking leaps and bounds backwards in my career and severely selling myself short? Try and get them to meet me more in the middle at 29-30/hr to start and ideally be at or above 32 after the 90 days?
Based on what EY found, this is way too low, even with the cost of living differences. Cite your experience, any certifications you have and use that as justification to ask for $34+ with the hope their counter lands somewhere closer to what you've been making.
I do hold a master mechanical license in Sioux Falls, SD (no state mechanical required just city) granted, that doesn't carry reciprocity in Missouri or Arkansas but I do hold it and it is up to the National Mechanical Code and SMACNA standards... considering a simple google search shows 5-6 year techs at an average of 28, I'm a little insulted.
Why not just file with the state an LLC and run your own operation? With 11 years, you surely have your license, and even a quick weekend mini split install can net you gross 20-30K... Why accept 52k/year when you can make more in 3 8 hour weekend jobs?licensed HVAC techs around here are making between $60-140/hour.... Even your current salary and not taking into account the future employer offer.... your current salary would be taken as an extreme insult around here.
75-80k still seems very low... Just put a little perspective here.... Licensed HVAC here... i have my Mon-Fri job in property management, making 175k/year, and then I have my weekend gig... installing mini splits/repair and recharging. Work 1 Saturday or Saturday/Sunday a month. Net in about 20-40k/weekend. 46-60 if doing a bigger split install with muiti zone splits. Do something between $240-700k/year on the weekend work + the 175k.. Gross, I'm getting close to 1M/year. And yes, equipment can dig you into initial equity really fast, but opening an LLC filing is about $50/year and you can secure a decent small business loan or a business credit line to initially buy the equipment up front. The biggest overhead for you is the cost of refrigerant... R454 is about to jump to $480/cylinder.
