Hi fishes! I volunteer with The Art of Good, a creative collective helping small businesses affected by the pandemic. They are seeking a little help from a media professional. Need an SEM POV for a small business looking to change their name and relaunch their brand. This is non-paid. More about giving back while in-between gigs. :) If you can help out or want to learn more, please reach out to me via LinkedIN. Thank you!! www.linkedin.com/in/karenkohn/

What’s considered protected class?
Over 40 is protected and you get more days to review the agreement. Do not sign without any employment lawyer reviewing.
Give us some tips… what could an employment lawyer help us do ? Better severance ?
Unless you pay them they cannot help too much with negotiation. They will review and flag anything that looks off and can offer advice if you are considering asking for revisions.
Protected class only helps in a case of potential discrimination. Given the overall circumstances it would be extraordinarily difficult to make a convincing case for discrimination unless a broad pattern across all terminations could be shown. By all means, talk to an employment lawyer, but don't get your hopes up.

This is part of the reason i would hire one. Omnicom now has every incentive in the world as well as the means to hide discrimination cases or whistleblower cases in a mass layoff.
If you have email documentation and evidence that you were targeted and then included in this layoff “by circumstance,” call a lawyer asap.
If you were to go down the lawyer route would that count against you in the the future? Like would you ever be able to freelance at an omnicom agency again?
