Tbf, I'd expect someone with only 7 YOE in industry to be brought in at the role below M. You need to know how to deliver before you can teach junior consultants how to deliver.
Huuuuge false promise. I was already manager at another firm & told the exact same thing & took it. Come promotion time, i have awesome reviews & every MD/senior person I worked with on board that I’m operating at the next level & ready. Do I get promoted? No. There is limited promotion spots & the homegrown people with longer standing relationships got priority.
Also they’re always re-orging and cost slashing using that as an excuse not to promote.
Probably set my career back a couple years when I tried to get out. If you have other firms as options, Accenture should be your last (not that they don’t do good work- but the internal politics are an absolute nightmare)
This is typical for most consulting companies due to the lack of consulting skills. Coming in as a manager with no consulting skills isn't easy at all and most drown in their first year.
a promise for promotion is an absolute lie. At Accenture we are all operating at a level above and that is the expectation. basically the only way they would give you a senior manager role is if you are operating as an associate director in your current job, so as a result they down level you here at Accenture.
I would also push to understand where you fall in the salary range because that can be a really unfair driver of the level. My guess is that your salary is within range for consulting and below range for manager, so if they brought you in as a manager, you would require a bump, and therefore be a higher cost and therefore they do not want to make that offer to you.
Absolutely do not accept the role at a senior consultant level .
I’m not sure anyone in recruiting can promise promotion, don’t fall for that statement. Apart from title see if this position gives you what you want in your career and choose
