Can a company legally change my position and OTE? I was hired for a specific segment and now just weeks into the role they said they are moving me down a segment due to business needs. The salary is the same but the commission went down. Wether legal or not this is fucking insane.

How to tell a manager/firm that a current job isn’t for you? If you do the work well and get along with your team but strive for another role (not in the usual trajectory), how do you express this?

My organization absorbed another and the former deputy PM became a branch head - a demotion. For org was more focused on tech dev and not delivering a product on a sked. New org is very focused on that. He is not a driving leader, but is the only one with the tech knowledge needed. He is retirement eligible. He has no heir apparent - previous org didn’t plan that way. If I move him under someone who is a driver - he retires and I lose the knowledge. If I don’t, we may not meet schedules. Advice?
