Seventh year at a boutique firm. Had a very intense year last year (personally and professionally). Things let up in the spring and I was able to take a vacation but haven’t been able to focus since then. I’ve just lost all motivation. I’ve never had this issue before and it is unbelievably frustrating. Any tips or recommendations for getting my mojo back???

I went through something similar as a 6th year. Can’t say I ever got the same passion for this job back. 4 years later it’s still hard to focus/motivate. I’m still pushing hard and working hard, but it just requires more effort than it used to. May be that I’m just getting older, too

So no answers for you, but I love a chance to gripe.

Yes I really like my practice and colleagues! I think I’m just burnt out but can’t seem to get past it, even with a few vacations

If you use the pomodoro method for time focus and tracking, do you bill in those increments or just keep your billablr timer going the whole time? For example, I work in 25 minute increments for large projects then I get a break. Do I bill .5 for that increment and restart my billing or keep my billing continuously going thereby not rounding up for those 5 min? I have just kept my timer going.

Any advice on how to deal with a partner/boss who is shifting all responsibility to me with zero guidance, no mentoring, and an unwillingness to discuss the issues? (Small firm, only associate under this partner and have been working at the firm for 2 years). There are an increasing number of passive aggressive comments from the partner who expects to be completely hands off once the case lands on my desk.
