Just lateraled into big law from a boutique corp firm. I’m a mid level. I’m struggling to understand what is and isn’t billable. Do people actually bill reading emails? How do you describe that? Anything else I should bill (and how should I describe these things) that aren’t as obviously as like actively drafting?

Is therapy effective? Maybe I’m being a boomer about it but it seems like you’re just paying someone $$ to listen to you because people who have been doing it for free (family, friends) are fed up with you. If you have any positive anecdotes re therapy, please share!

How many firms is too many? I’ve practiced 13 years. Since I was a 1st year associate, every 3 years or so I’ve been recruited for another opportunity that is hard to pass up. I’ve been at my current firm 3 years and got the call again, again about an opportunity that is hard to pass up. I don’t like having a reputation of a flight risk, but this keeps happening. Should I decline to pursue the opportunity just so I have a longer track record at my current firm? This will be my 4th if I move.
