Supposed to be moving to France from the US in a few weeks for a new job, it’s been six months in the works of getting the visa situation handled. With this coronavirus now, I’m afraid (cont)

borders will close and if a recession hits, they may lay off staff and revoke my offer. Does this sound likely?

Have you signed a contract? Worth looking into French employment law.

I did sign a contract, all i was waiting for was to get my passport stamped with the visa and i was supposed to fly out and start this week, things got delayed by 2 weeks but as of last week everything got put on hold

I'm really sorry. It's just unpredictable and stressful. I hope it works out for you. I'd keep talking to them and keep front of mind. French employment law is very protective of the employee though, if you can get a start date in place, it could help. But appreciate that may be difficult. Relocation shipments are also delayed. Good luck with it all though. I really hope it all works out ok. Things seem to change daily at the moment though, so they may also be waiting things out a bit. It's all an unknown from a hr and recruitment perspective I guess too.

OP any news on this?

Just got it written down again, it’s called “force majeure” or sometimes in US law called an “act of god” dismissal where one party cannot go through on their end of the contract due to catastrophic situations out of their control, such as war, riots, or... a pandemic...

Anyone move from the bay side of the east bay to the 680 valley? We’ve been here for a year and are having a hard time adjusting to the weather and wondering if we’ll ever get used to it. We love getting outdoors but have felt like we’ve spent the better part of this summer inside just because of how hot it’s been. How do you keep up with the same level of activity with kids (running, cycling , hiking) while staying cool?

TLDR: Getting over your ex of 2.5 years ghosting you after they said they wanted to reconnect.

I was dating someone for about 2.5 years and then we broke up because of COVID and the long distance was making it too difficult to continue. The break up must’ve been like a 4-5 minute FaceTime because I was very distraught. After we broke up, she started seeing someone else but I was heartbroken and it’s taken me over a year to really get over everything and process those feelings. (Cont.)

We recently got the ok to schedule our orientation and delivery date for our IVF medications and all I have to say is ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF! My husband has dermatomyositis, and his doctor put off treatment so that we could do some collection and go through IVF. I felt like my dr was blowing off our timeline, but I persisted. I worked with CVS Caremark directly and got approval in 2 days (not the expected 3 weeks). Moral of the story: ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF!

Good Morning. Here's my dilemma. I have an approved H1B application which got picked up in 2019-20 lot and approved in Jan 2020, before the world went into lockdown. The stamping process was initiated but it couldn't complete as the USCIS offices were shutdown die to the pandemic. I have watched patiently about all the regulations Trump Administration brought in to deny any entry to H1B applicants who weren't already working in the states or who were waiting to return.
