Don’t tell them anything. Just get hired and then request leave when you have to. If they lay you off instead of allowing parental leave, I’m sure you can sue.
At will doesn’t really protect anyone. However do some digging into their benefits package. Most agencies these days have non birthing parent leave baked in. There could be a small requirement that you need to be at the agency x amount of months prior but depending on the state your in a lot of times it’s not mandated more than 90 days with the company.
If they have a parental leave package (odds are they do) you could def sue if they lay you off because of an upcoming family leave. However at will employment means they have the right to terminate your contract for any other reason.
All and all just read the fine print.
NO. It’s none of their business. Sign the paperwork, get hired, then request paternity leave when the time comes. Never give a corporation an excuse to not hire you.
Congrats on both major events btw!
That's the most important thing to keep in mind - it's none of their business. They're not your friends, they're not owed any information about your personal life.
There is so much that they're not telling you (or any of their current full-time employees) at this moment so don't try to convince yourself that it's a matter of trust.
Do everything you can to ensure that their hiring decision is based on your qualifications and ability to do the job as asked.
Absolutely not. Don't say anything. Congrats!
Don’t say anything!!
Not 100% positive on this, but I’d ask a lawyer if it’s even legal for them to lay you off when you tell them that. I get your hesitancy to be transparent with the agency, agencies do not care about their employees.
On a side note, I wish you and your wife well and I hope you’re both excited.
It’s disgusting that you even have to consider this. You’re under no obligation to say anything. I hope this company proves itself better than this.
^ This! Don’t give them any excuse not to hire you. Get in there, make friends and kick ass. Then at some point bring up this info with your direct boss. I’m sure something can be worked out - like working from home if not the normal parental leave.
idk but congratulations
lol why would you do that? Do you hate being employed?
Mad later is better than not hiring you now. Definitely go with mad later!
Don’t say a word. Get that job then figure it out

Your wife is only 3 months pregnant. Who's to say either of you even knew about it? Some women don't have regular cycles and deliver babies without ever having known they were pregnant to start with. Go for the job and enjoy your growing family.
Months means you have time and you don’t need to tell them now. Weeks, yes you would be withholding something important than that would be dishonest and they should fire you.
