So I recently moved out of state and quit my VA job. Before I quit I had an interview with the VA in the area I moved to. So after I relocated, reached out to the hiring manager and I was relieved that I got the same position as before I left federal service. Well when the offer letter came it was a surprise to me that my GS was the same but my step was not. Before I left I was a little GS 6 step 3, now with the new job I have to start all over at a GS 6 step1- not very happy about this.

Is my relationship worth it? Met my SO of 3 years senior year of college. Hoped we would graduate and start our full time jobs together, but my SO is unfortunately still in school (switched majors, transferred schools, etc). Our relationship has taken a big hit, as I am moving forward with my life but he is still in school and can’t find a job. I am also starting to resent him and he is turning more insecure. I am only 23, is this worth it?

My partner got a City of Toronto offer. Salary band is 104-121k. HR asked for his expectations and he said 115k. HR came back with a 106k offer stating nobody on the team makes that much so they cant offer it. Also said she is unsure if there is any wiggle room if any at all. I’ve looked at everyone on the team with the same titles salary on the sunshine list and the lowest I see is 121k. I assume there is an OT component of some sort but also can’t confirm. Thoughts? /negotiating advice?
