No one will hire you because the market is garbage right now. Keep trying.
I must’ve been passed over 100 times since I started looking with only 1 interview and that was for a trading job. Maybe the market is no good but I definitely feel like I must be doing something wrong.
Right, I’ll admit I made that mistake of applying to jobs with the same resume and slightly modified cover letter every single time. And I did that unfortunately for a long time and so I totally understand why I didn’t hear a reply back on any of those jobs. My latest strategy has been being more literal and really spelling it out for them so that when a requirement is listed on a job post my resume clearly says “yes I did that and here’s where I did it” and I’ve only been applying to jobs where I meet every single skill requirement and can list on my resume where and how I have experience in it. In theory this should work but I’m still not getting any hits and I don’t know what’s happening because the recruiter never tells me I just get straight up ghosted after I apply. I usually don’t have enough experience to land a senior or mid-level job and too much for an entry-level. I don’t know if I’m scaring off the entry level jobs or if there’s simply too much competition. The rest require more experience than I have to give or there are simply people who have worked in that exact industry before and company’s hire them because they’re familiar. Trading can sometimes be associated with gambling or the companies I apply to simply always go with the applicant who’s worked in their exact industry before which is never trading. I’m really just trying to look for ways to increase my odds, avoid jobs with a massive volume of applicants, and whatnot.
