Texas is just Alabama but with oil.
Really shows you how profitable oil is.
Both have robust fishing, agriculture (specifically cotton), aerospace, defense, military, healthcare, cattle, shipping, automotive manufacturing, steel and mining industries.
If Texas didn’t have oil and busy border with our number one economic partner, I’d wager their GDP per capita would be similar to Alabama’s.
Edit: Texas does have a much more robust tech sector than Alabama, but other than that, still pretty close sector wise
