Totally understand! Mine do too. Have a standing desk with a treadmill and the trick to periodically switch what your body is doing. Stand, walk, sit. I got a stool that’s easy to place on top of my treadmill and easy to just move it off when I want to walk. Get good shoes that are designed for walking and wear them. I love love love my standing desk. It took some practice to type and walk. And I save anything in excel for sitting work lol, it’s too hard to make sure I have no errors if I’m moving.
Hello former personal trainer and dance instructor here! So standing all day also isn't good for you just as sitting all day isn't. The best thing for you to do is to have a desk that can go up and down with you. If you can't change out your entire desk I suggest getting a desk topper that can be raised up or down as needed.
It's important to change positions and move throughout the day.
Also suggest getting a good pair of compression socks or tights that have full feet. If you have room for a walking pad to put under the desk when you're standing that is good. But it should also have wheels so you can easily move it and put a chair to sit when needed.
Another thing you can do is get a small vibration plate and put it next to your desk when you are sitting or standing. This helps increase the circulation and keep things moving so that your feet don't hurt as bad.
Thanks so much for the helpful information!
I bought an IKEA standing desk when they were all the rage. I like to stand for client meetings and presentations as it feels more assertive, but I sit all other times. It’s nice to have the option, but I don’t think I could stand all day or walk on a pad - would definitely recommend one you can raise and lower. I was going to order an anti fatigue mat, but find my Crocs fit the bill just fine while I am working from home.
I got an anti-fatigue mat for when I am standing. It helps quite a bit.
