Is the litigation still going? Are they going to settle? I’m curious. Screw that firm, glad you upheld your code of conduct. I hope all individuals involved get disbarred.
Did you also report the individuals to PCAOB and the state CPA organization?
It’s naive to think people can’t be pushed out when going against the grain.
Isn’t the former AA group that runs the new tax firm of the same name the same? Leopards don’t change their spots. Wouldn’t be surprised to find out they were still doing this kind of thing. It’s all about money, especially when someone feels like they are smarter and are owed something for being so great.
Yeah, but management of AT is all old Arthur Andersen guys. They have the same view of themselves.
Why does this sound fake? CEO wouldn’t force you out knowing you could report this and they could force a lawsuit. Unless there were other reasons for the company to fire you.
EY1 - did you not read? OP did sue.
It happened at Arthur Andersen, the biggest of the Big 5, so it can happen anywhere. Management at some of these firms thinks they are smarter than to get caught, but they’ll get what’s coming to them. Hell, even the new Andersen has had to settle NLRA violation cases to avoid bigger issues and it’s all public record. They got caught surveilling their employees according to the NLRB website. I’ve been told they could have been using their MITM SSL spoofing they pay a 3rd party for to read all the guy’s emails and log in to social media accounts because that’s the kind of access they get. I have a friend who caught rogue logins to his email and social media accounts from Andersen IP addresses when he was not in the office or on his work computer. I would be willing to bet those people spying were told by management to do it and committed a felony in the process. Now they are dependent on the grace of management not to throw them under the bus.
If the current CEO thinks he is smarter than all his clients and employees, he’ll keep doing the bad things. That’s just how that kind of person operates. They think if it wasn’t in writing, there could be no record of it. Then they find out there is a recording of the call they had or a backup of all their emails or pings after they try to delete them. I’ve worked with plenty of that type at clients and they think they’re untouchable until they’re not.
