What do you mean? Can you clarify on what you mean by the commission split? What kind of deal Representation?
It sounds like what your describing is being an agent - in California and New York for sure you would want to get a talent agency license - it’s very simple and cheap - agents in the music business commission anywhere from 10-20% of the value of the deal - if your saying commission legal fees from the lawyer no you can’t do that, but you can bring in deals for the artist and commission those deals - otherwise if you are acting as a manager you could similarly commission the artists earnings - check out Don Passman’s book to learn more about those types of arrangements
