Has anybody retooled from entertainment litigation to transactional? Thinking about making a switch, but not sure I’d really like it.

Yes. Major practical differences are a higher volume of matters, the need for more quick turnarounds, and a faster upward trajectory

I went from ID to entertainment transactional. It took years, but I’m glad I had the litigation - particularly ID - background.

A few at my firm have, can’t speak for them but it was mainly to escape an abusive partner I think. It’s definitely more lowkey and they aren’t going crazy with briefs but there is a lot to manage w regard to various things to keep track of.

I’m on the lit side but I’d guess not.

Looking at exits into pharma and biotech. Have an opp at a biotech at the SM level. Total comp excluding equity is around $190k; RSUs vest over 4 years with annual refreshers, so first year equity would be around $6,200 and it would go up by $6,200 each of the next 3 years, plus whatever base bump I get. Very good benefits package.

They envision 2-3 years before I jump either to AD or right to D. Solid opp? Or hold out to go straight to director level?

I am retired and enjoying subbing part time. Wondering if there are any others that have finally found their dream job in retirement.

Curious how other marketing teams like to share resources internally. I'm considering creating a centralized hub where departments can access news, branding information, logos, premade materials and basic templates like letterheads. I'd also like to be able to give specific users access to specific things (ie I don't want everyone to have the logo vector).

Any suggestions or thoughts? Know any software for this? My instinct is just to build a website or page with logins, but open to options!

I’ve been practicing for 6 years in-house at a media company (was a startup when I joined and is now more established), straight out of law school. Due to the small nature of our team (3 legal members), I have been involved in all areas of our business and even advise c-suite frequently about legal risks. I received a promotion, with another title bump on the horizon this year. I have an opportunity to go to a start-up media company as the sole attorney. Anyone else have experience doing this?

I have heard many times that you should try to stay at a firm 12 months before you look elsewhere. Right now I am litigating in an area I don’t care about at all, but my background is in entertainment. I have been in my current role for less than a year but an opportunity arose in my city at a firm where I could transition to entertainment law. Will the short time I’ve been in my current position be a red flag or not necessarily?

My client’s video was aired on television without a license. The video’s use does not fall within fair use. Any insight would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Meaning I would now like to change as a career changer.... Does anyone have any tips for me on how to apply? So far I've only received rejections and I'm slowly losing motivation 🥲

Hi there, I’m really interested in working in the entertainment industry—specifically the studios / tv development and production side of things. Is there anyone in this group that does this kind of work that would mind talking to me about it (what the day-to-day looks like, the type of skills needed, how to break in, great companies to work for / terrible companies to work for in this industry, etc.)? Trying to learn as much as I can to see if I could make the jump :) Thank you!!
