The amount of paid time off can make a difference in your financial stability during periods of illness. When I first started with my employer, I had 10 vacation days and 5 sick days, which later switched to 20 days of PTO.

I am currently battling a never ending medical issue and not only is my FMLA running low, but my PTO is thinning out. I have asked my manager for some grace and if really needed, I can work from the hospital. Does this make sense or should I consider something else?

Hey all ... i do PI litigation but i have a passion to help businesses with acquistions, business transactions (specific to dental and medical acquistions and sales), real estate transactions/estate planning. I know there are real estate transaction firms, estate firms, and corporate transaction firms...but i guess from being in the PI world so long (only 4 years) i do not even know what type of firms could possible encompass most or all types of the areas i want to be. Just how bad would it be to quit without a two week notice? I’ve been bait & switched into a horrible role, overworked to the point of having medical problems, and no amount of diplomatic talks with my manager has improved the day to day. My mental health and my personal relationships have been on a steady decline.

Has anyone had roommates who got sick with Covid and they managed to not catch it from them? If so, what precautions did you take? We have a good relationship and so far he’s been staying in his room and using a mask whenever he needs to use the restroom or grab water from the kitchen. If you do billable work on a given PTO/vacation day, do you still count that day as vacation? Or do you get that vacation day "back"? Or do you only get the part that you billed "back"? (Or some other option.)

I have my last day at employer A right before thanksgiving and will be covered on their health insurance through 11/30. I am taking some time off before starting a new position with employer B in mid January but their insurance wouldn’t be effective until 2/1. Should I take this role?
Pros: 50k bump, company is full remote, no time tracking software, unlimited PTO, 10k in quarterly bonuses, vertical move in responsibility and title, will set me up for future roles in different companies with the title I am looking for (so strategic move)

Cons: Its a startup, the solution they offer is adjacent my desired industry, its a very small team so I wouldn’t be necessarily grow my network, tech stipend for new laptop (but they don’t provide a work one)
