Tell you’re recruiter you have a pre planned vacation before you start
Or just adjust your start date so you have enough time to wind up your affairs with your previous office.
If you don’t ask for it as part of the overall entry you’ll never get it.
I wouldn’t think twice about someone asking for two days off - especially in spring break
Depending on the environment, they’d likely be flexible. I would let them know upfront you have 2 days that you had planned off with your kids and you can always add you’ll be reachable by phone/email if anything urgent comes up.
They just want you the first week to get IT and everything set up. Totally fine to tell them you have a planned vacation.
I don’t think two days is a big deal especially if you ask in advance and it seems you have plenty of time since you start in a month. I wouldn’t want to work in a place that makes a big deal out of 2 days for spring break with children. That said, you don’t even need to disclose the reason, just explain you have a personal commitment.
