Take it as a good sign. You’re talented, hire-able, clearly made it past a few rounds, just didn’t come in 1st here. But you might have been 2nd choice. Send them a nice follow up note to try to make sure you’re top of mind in the future.

CD - it wasn’t meant to be. Don’t take it personally. It happens to the best of us. Hang in there but also really evaluate what will truly make you happy. Is it really advertising? I’ll confess that the business rarely made me happy. I don’t think I’m alone in saying that.
🥺I’m really sorry
Sounds like you’ve been in the biz long enough to understand, it’s mostly about timing and budget. Something just wasn’t aligned perfectly.
This exact scenario happened to me three weeks ago. Except I was excited about the potential of steady work, which would be a life changer for me right now. Anyway, when I heard I didn't get it I was so super bummed. Then three days later I was okay. Usually takes me three days. (Start counting OP.)

It would have been an absolute life-changer and reverse two years of decline, doing exactly the kind of work I most enjoy, where the people genuinely seem happy. I am not over it.
Ugh, so sorry. It's gotta suck right now. Eventually you will realize it wasn't the thing for you and you will find the right job. It's hard to see in the moment but it will happen.
Sorry to hear. Can you ask for feedback? I realize that even if it comes it probably won't be that useful but you never know. I just did and was told that I didn't have something that I perceive (and others testify to) as a strength. Makes me wonder if somehow I'm not communicating clearly. Also wondering - when the common request comes if I have any questions - should I ask if there is anything important that I haven't covered? Thinking I may be able to solicit a, "Can you please clarify . . .?" question.
I had this happen before getting my current role. In retrospect the experience was just a stop on the path to another great position. I know it's hard not to take it personally, but it really isn't personal. Hang in there, your next opportunity is shaping up to find you soon.
