My brother is getting caught up in it sadly, a different area than accounting/IRS. His first job out of college. Worked hard in school. Is a great kid. Signed on in May. Moved all the way across the country in October. Has a lease, student loans and expenses....
He doesn't have a family to support and we'll help him with whatever he needs, but still feel bad as his first experience out of school. I feel for these folks.
While in all for downsizing some government layers, the way it's been handled feels irresponsible and wreckless. 😔
Agree, Handled rather poorly. The impact will be months but more likely years down the road.
And each one of those people should blame democrats. Democrats spent almost a decade using the power of these agencies to persecute DT, including the IRS. He has seen what happens when the power of the government is abused. Is it shocking he is now gutting those institutions?
News flash KPMG 1, DJT did not win a majority of the votes. He won 50%.
That’s what happens when you vote the orange swine in. Should have thought about it earlier.
A recession is almost guaranteed at this point. So many white collar jobs have been affected by these cuts and so many businesses are being hurt by their contractually agreed upon grants being withheld that it’s inevitable. This is especially true considering things have already been slowing down anyway.
Rising Star
That’s the whole point. With hundreds of thousands of people suddenly unemployed, the labor market turns very strongly in favor of the employer. Good for profits, horrible for workers.
I worked at the IRS a few years ago and am so glad I left. All cutting down on the IRS means is that all trump’s buddies and upper class get away with more now. Can’t wait to see the “savings” be spent on enriching the Trump fan club
Agree. Worse and worse every year. Quarantine times threw all employees into confusion. Training is 💩 and hadnt gotten any better
Imagine working for the IRS
It was okay. Till I got a new manager and she was awful. I couldn't get away from her.
The lesson is that when your employer offers a buyout, take it. Government employees thought they were exempt from having to worry about job cuts. Now, they are learning what the rest of us have known for a long time. Your job is not guaranteed.
No one should secure but audit senior
Lots of high performing people were just pushed out and that’s a bummer
Yea myself 😂
I have a friend that was in her first year at a government agency. She had amazing evaluations, then was canned for not meeting requirements. Her supervisors showed that they were forced to terminate everyone that was provisional. It sucks.
It's like the Bang Theory joke, it's not that you're not good at your job, it's that your job isn't necessary.
I feel bad because it wasn't just new probationary employees. Some of them were probationary because they had established themselves, applied for, and got a promotion, so we're only probationary as a supervisor. Lots of highly trained experienced employees being lost across the federal government.
I am so sorry to hear this and truly sorry for anyone affected by this. I think its just shameful how many people are getting laid off when the economy is as bad as it is and jobs are already hard enough to find.
Didn’t they get like 6 months of severance and full benefits? I wish.
Now one got that….
Yes. I feel sorry for the probationers. They got hit by a broadside that was not on them with perhaps a few exceptions. I have seen people let go after the year but not on this scale. DHS-FEMA, DHS-CISA, DHS-S&T and some at DOD who are now on the chopping block,
Yes, I was caught up in the federal employee cuts. Now at 64 I am looking for another job.
The best and brightest just left while the old boomers that can operate a shared excel file are left
I’m staying to see if I get rest of my retention bonus and to be honest see what happens see what NTEU can do for me if I were to get fired
I’m not worried about finding another job I’m in a very profitable niche
Yea I feel for everyone impacted it’s non ideal
Now audits will take an extra 4 statute waivers, and I can wait 3x as long on hold when I call. Fantastic!
I was like wow that's a lot of accounting type of people that just hit the job market. Granted no one likes to hire former agents but still a lot of new competition just hit the job market
Most of them just left public for the IRS as part of the push for new agents under the IRA.
IRS…growing and thriving? Let’s have a flat tax and eliminate the IRS. As is, it will never go completely.
You would still need the IRS with a flat tax…
