Funny, but the more I use it and the more it advances, the more I believe it will never get my job. I think people have some wild misconceptions about AI. Will it replace some people? Absolutely. But conceptual creatives are not those people. And even in terms of production, as amazing as some stuff can be, it’s still pretty useless in the real world.
I see people here freaking out that “oh it may not be good, but clients won’t care!” No, clients may not care, but you know who will? Their customers. Especially when brands all do exactly the same and are indistinguishable from each other. Then clients will realize that what they need to do is differentiate themselves. AI is useless for that. AI can do a lot of things, but it cannot have an idea and it cannot understand an insight because it is not a person. It cannot relate to other humans.
So yeah, if you try to beat AI at the things it’s good at, you’re cooked. If you excel at the stuff AI will never be good at, then you should be fine.

@SC3 Ok, that’s great, but you didn’t answer the question. Figures. Anyway … The initial discussion is about AI, not social media, so I don’t know what your spiel about influencers and social media has to do with anything. I have worked on a major brand’s TikTok account and have worked with influencers. You’re not making any sense. You think there are no ideas there? You think influencers just ramble product RTBS looking at their phone and that’s all? Let me tell you a little secret about social media. People will watch, what they like. They will ignore what they don’t. People don’t give a rats ass who made it: an influencer, an ad agency, a 14 year old kid, a brand, a movie director, or their mom. They just know they either find it interesting or not. And this applies to any media. This is why creativity is important. Because it is the only way to connect to people on an emotional level. AI will never learn how to do that.
I don’t know what the fuck influencers have to do with it. You know what makes an influencer successful? Their creativity. Otherwise, anyone would be an influencer.

If you understand how it works, you’ll realize it can never do what we do.
Use it to enhance your work. But replacing your work would require AI to be something it inherently can’t be.

Ask AI what exactly?
1000% agree. We are actively making ourselves obsolete.
Like global warming, but for creative.
When we reach General Intelligence with AI we are cooked. Right now we are training it, and when it arrives it will be able to handle any intellectual task, self learn, and will be capable of independent thought and creation. Enjoy the honeymoon.
Lol this. Watching everyone lie to themselves is... sad
The ones that don’t care about quality will do it and it’ll be fine. So the agencies doing shitty work within a huge holding co might be at risk.
It’s more important now to find a smaller creative led independent agency that will instead work with the clients that want something more unique
The more I hear some creatives talk about AI, the more realize that a lot of creatives have no idea what business we are actually in. It isn’t our job to come with idea. It’s our job to come up with ideas that *sell products and services.* If the ideas aren’t moving the products and services, the clients will go find someone whose ideas will.
Ask yourself: if AI does eventually replace all creatives, and all the clients are asking the same models the same questions to sell the same products to the same groups of people, how much variation or differentiation is there going to be in all of the advertising? What is going to make a consumer choose product A over product B?
That’s what humans bring to the equation, and that’s what AI will never be able to replicate. It’s a machine at the end of the day, and it will continue to behave like a machine, even if it’s a very complex and articulate and interesting machine.
Clients aren’t hiring us to come up with brilliant idea ideas. They’re hiring us to move products and services. Period.
In what universe would you ever believe otherwise lol…lmao even.

After spending too much time in this thread, one thing has become extremely clear to me.
If your job is at risk because of AI, it’s most likely because you have had such little belief in the power of creativity as a tool of persuasion, and that you have accepted the lie that all we need to do is stalk people around the internet to make a quick sale.
If you want to survive the era of AI, it’s on you to make yourself valuable in a world where the least valuable parts of the marketing equation are better done by a machine.
The best advertising, like the greatest artists, mostly steals what connected with consumers before and repeats, repeats, repeats. AI's entire process is precisely this, and it learns a Hell of a lot faster than Picasso ever did.
"Originality" has hurt clients more than it's helped them over the years. Our yearning for it is just garden variety ego. We just help people sell things. We're smart, and we work very hard...these are the skills that will find us work ahead. Not Advertising.

@ACD1 LOL, no, I was talking to that “Private User” dude. I thought that was clear. I quoted them.
If “most clients don’t care” then most concepting and creative rounds would be 1-2 max today. They are not. Hahaha. Not by a mile!
This reminds me of the days when the anxiety was high because print was dying.. it was, we are still here because we moved on to digital.
Times that by 1000 and move on to AI.
