Thinking of a move from Big 4 M&A Advisory (not Financial Due Diligence) to Investment Banking and have a couple of questions - A) How common is this move and is it doable? B) Do any investment banks sponsor PR Applications (PNP/LMIA)?

Yea we don’t have any finance people in Toronto. Those jobs only get like 2k domestic applicants per opening.

These are basically the most competitive jobs in the country, with a small army of applicants every year for a very limited number of roles. The likelihood of getting an LMIA for a role like this is literally 0.

The fact that this is even a question shows how demented our immigration policy has been… a lot of foreigners think you can just waltz into Canada like it’s a human right to be here…

OP has been hitting the crack pipe with the encampments by asking such a ludicrous question

An LMIA confirms

there is a need for a temporary foreign worker
no Canadians or permanent residents are available to do the job

Can you please explain why you would think this would be applicable for an investment banking job in Toronto? The place with the highest per capita CFA population?

like

Bye!

Pretty unlikely that you will get an LMIA or have your employer sponsor your PNP. Most employers are pretty risk averse in these sponsorships given time and commitment. They likely won’t do it for someone that isn’t already working for them.

The move is pretty common when the market if the market is good (I.e. tons of people made this move in '21-'22). Not sure about your second question.

What is considered a “large” caseload in employment litigation? I work at a large L&E boutique law firm and handling about 14-15 active litigation cases in state/federal court or arbitration. Some of these matters are multi-plaintiff and multi-defendant cases, but none are class actions. This does not include any matters I am handling in the charge stage or in pre-litigation. Not sure if that’s a typical caseload or not?

Curious to know what you've seen as working to non working dollars split in Canadian agencies. Reference any specific brands (or categories) if you can. I'm used to seeing the conventional 15-20% split for non working (production dollars only, not including media budget, agency fees) but are those days gone now with the takeover of digital (vs traditional) ad placements?

Toronto banks: remote or not? They sometimes post jobs where it doesn’t say it’s remote, but no branch/ location/address either. Then you get an interview and they tell you it’s remote/hybrid(1-2-3days, take your pick)/on-site. So, if you work at TD, Scotia, RBC, could you let everybody know in the comments what’s the deal for each? Are you remote, on-site, hybrid of some sort?

Making a lot of money relative to the average but feeling poor? Median after-tax income was ~$55,000 in 1981 and was ~$73,000 in 2020. Using a Bank of Canada inflation calculator $55,000 in 1981 is equivalent to ~$165,000 today, which would put someone in the top 10% of earners today. But in 1981 the median family had that extra money. Who can I blame?
