Thinking of becoming an adjunct at a smaller local law school for a switch into “part time” work. I’m in house right now and while I enjoy it, just had my second kid and want more flexibility/time. Has anyone had experience doing this? How is the pay (per credit hour, etc)?

My husband is an airline pilot so he makes enough $$ but I want to keep working a little, and I love academia. Would also love to have the time and extended summer break/etc to enjoy all the free flights we get 😬

Good luck--tge pay is a honorarium of 5K. It's not a job--it's a badly paid hobby.

My husband is an adjunct at a couple of law schools. If you just want to keep busy, it’s great, but you will make so little money that you’ll be lucky to break even after transportation and coffee. I think he nets around $30 an hour or something like that, less in years in which he has to create a new syllabus and materials if he’s teaching something new.

I do this and I love it. I basically make less than minimum wage all things considered, but it’s one class per semester and I really love teaching and mentoring students, so I don’t mind. I’m not doing it for the pay.

At my T20 school, it was crazy low pay but competitive to get because people enjoyed it.
I want to say less than $5000 for a one semester class (granted this was 7-8 years ago).

I just started a new job 2 months ago, benefits and PTO don’t start until 90 days in so I still have a month before I can take off any time, and today found out my company doesn’t offer paid maternity leave.
I’m really struggling handling the symptoms and maintaining my full time job. Thinking about looking for a part time job to have more time to myself through the pregnancy since I won’t be getting a paid leave anyways, but lost on where to start looking. Any recommendations?
