This is the first time I have to face being laid off in the USA (Allegheny, Pennsylvania). Are there any resources besides unemployment comp available? Job board only open to unemployed people, non profit work etc?

I want to take this opportunity to career shift but I am not sure how to get started.

My hands are shaking!! I just got off a call with my toxic manager who is clearly not happy I am being poached for another division. I tried to hold firm as he attempted to 20 question me, who was it, who wants me, what division, how did they find out about me? And of course the gaslighting of “why didn’t you come to me I could have helped or made introductions”. Clearly everything is about him. How have you handled such situations? What could I have done better with my abusive manager?

Need advice - I've been talking to a Partner contact at a big-4 firm where I REALLY want to work. She sent my info to the managing partner in my city, but I haven't heard anything for about 3 weeks. Been playing it cool because I know these things can take time, BUT, I just got let go from my current firm. I have til 12/15 to find a new job.

So I’m engaged in an interview process for a top FinTech company. It started the 1st week of August and just now I’ve gotten word from my recruiter that they didn’t update on any decisions made. I had my 3rd & final interview last Friday. My recruiter doesn’t communicate well nor does she let me communicate with the company direct. May I being led on? Follow up post to my last post…My husband was laid off from the company where I also work. I am feeling really isolated / depressed about working and moving forward. I’m also getting to a stage where I’m really sad that people haven’t reached out to either my husband or myself to send well wishes or provide support. It’s like they don’t know what to say or I make them feel awkward so they don’t bother…I’m trying to focus on a few that have been supportive but it’s hard…Any words of advice? 😞

The severance package at Meta for laid off employees almost makes it nice to be laid off depending on what your personal situation is….. personally wouldn’t mind getting 4+ months of full pay to reset and think about what’s next 😬

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

A couple months back, I had an offer for a BDR position that I ended up turning down but I really liked and connected with the manager. Is it worth it to reach out?
