Rising Star
Everything was great for 20 years until your boss didn’t say thank you or celebrate the anniversary?
The money is the thank you!
Did you get paid for each of the years you worked? I’ve been at places that recognize work anniversaries but at the same time not sure I would get upset about not having it. And if you didn’t get anything for 5, 10, or 15 years not sure why you thought 20 would be any different.
Are you getting fairly compensated? Are you happy with your role? If so, I'd just let it go. If it makes you feel any better, my Big 4 firm did nothing for me making it to 20 years. For that matter, they didn't even acknowledge my making it to 20 years as a partner, which is supposed to be a big deal.
Idk if it’s time to leave but I understand your hurt.
Jump roles
Well yea they are laughing at your for accepting 1-3% raises for 20 years when market rate for your replacement is well over 100% of your current salary
This is your boss? CFO or ceo?
Sounds like the author is something prefers acknowledgment (which is completely fair) or is upset that the CEO is using their years of service for their own self-service purpose without any actual appreciation to the author (again completely fair). To the point of this group’s responses, is that enough to leave or are there other reasons to jump?
If you are feeling this way, it is likely due to an accumulation of small things over the years. I am doubting that it is ONLY because you were not acknowledged at the 20 year mark. If you do not feel valued, you can search for a new company who will value you, and even pay you more. That's my two cents. I'm 58 and have worked with enough environments and people to have a point of comparison. I have been highly valued at some companies and treated that way at all times. Other companies (current one included) do no value me at all (which is why I am searching for a new role). Trust your gut on this. If your gut is feeling sick about these things, it is telling you something.
