I think it's been more predictably stressful than 2020, but harder in some ways. I feel like our youth are being subjected to so much right now: peer pressure, social media, geopolitics, domestic politics. They have more anxiety than ever and the first thing to suffer is their commitment to their education.
This has been the most stressful year for me. Can’t wait for it to be over.
Best year I've had since covid.
Im at a new site, and I'm surrounded by professionals. It's amazing.
96% of the kids are generally reasonable, and the rare jerks are pretty thoroughly muted by the campus culture.
I teach a diverse population. Some advanced classes and 2 challenging remedial classes.
When I need help, I get it. A rogue parent tried to conference by ambush and saw immediate consequences. Another tried to get me in trouble by going to an admin about a minor incident; admin put them in touch with me, and was told that has to happen first.
It's been wonderful.
I'm so happy for you. Amazing
Same here. This year has been exhausting in a different way. Not quite 2020-level chaos and fatigue, but the constant pressure still wears you down. I'm counting the days till break too
Actually, I felt like things were a lot better this year. We have a new principal, which was really concerning at first, but they are amazing and have been great. The district is being a lot more supportive and overall actually feeling good about next year.

I would call it an average stress level year- ups and downs, for sure. Or maybe I am just numb to it now.
I was let go, so yes it was even more stressful than 2020.
I'm sorry!
This year was mid range stressful for me. The kids were fine. They acted like they normally do. Some of the parents were a little more intense this year and while I might miss the kids, I will not miss the parents.
For me, it was.
Why?:
Record number of behavioral issues, no parental intervention.
School where even starting in Pre-K , students are using very vulgar terminology in every day speech, and don't know it is a bad word, because it is commonplace at home.
Over the top levels of disrespect for teachers and adults,
Special Ed teachers being attacked by students.
Working in a bilingual school with all of the political stuff going on, and having compassion and at the same time exhausted by students who are resentful that they are actually expected to speak English as well as Spanish.
Other educators telling me they're exhausted by admin micro-management, feeling unfairly evaluated and then harassed for taking personal days even though they've earned them, etc.
So yes, I do agree. I want out, but right now I can't retire AND the job market sucks. (I've been offered other jobs, but the pay is way too low AND the turnover rate is way too high.) So heigh ho, heigh ho it's back to THAT I go...
