You don’t owe anybody an explanation for decisions regarding your life. Do what’s best for you and your family.

It will be annoying for your team but a part of doing business. If there was a layoff needed and you happened to just have a newborn baby to support, you would be RIFed with no remorse. Never forget that

It's definitely gonna be hard on your team but if you have a good reason for it, I think it's justified some years. When telling the team, be honest but considerate. Let them know your decision isn’t personal and offer to help with the transition. I’d also suggest doing it as early as possible to give them time to plan.
Makes sense, I think that;s a perfectly legitimate reason and they'll understand then. Give as much notice as you can, but don't take it personal if anyone acts upset that you're leaving then. You gotta do what's best for you
I did exactly that this year, the day we returned from Winter Break I put in my two weeks and have zero regrets doing it. They will survive.
Just remember they won't feel sorry to laid you off. As long as you give your two weeks notice, just leave.
Yeah never heard an employer ask if it's a good time to fire you, put yourself first.
Keeping it professional and being sensitive to the team by leaving quietly whilst doing your job to the last day will make it less dramatic though.
I left in January this year. Partner tried to counter offer me. So all you have to do is staying firm with your decision. That’s all you need to do. People come people go all the time. You are not the first one and not the last one. They will be fine!
I mean at the end of the day you have to do what is best or you. Best way to tell the team is to rip the bandaid off and tell them. There really is no good way or time to leave in my opinion so do what you need to do.
Just remember - if they gonna laid you off or fire you, they won’t be sorry and they will do it at any moment
