Morgan’s employment group is insanely toxic and has a reputation for churning people, promising them partnership, and then forcing them out - often into handpicked in house roles that further benefit the firm.
This person knows ^^^
Morgan Lewis seems to have a history of keeping associates (both in the employment group and outside of it) as associates for often 10-12 years before moving them to even Of Counsel or Partner. If you're going over to Morgan Lewis with the goal of making equity partner, I'd be prepared for a 15+ year journey from the year you graduated law school.
When’s the last time a lateral associate made partner?
They work a lot. But in all seriousness the group has great partners, but by far bill the most of any other group in the office. They’re very close knit as well. But because of the lower rates as compared to the rest of the firm you’ll be getting a lot of pressure to bill 2200 plus.
Is that billing expectation applicable to the entire practice group? Or is it more office dependent—ie, Philly vs Houston?

Dont lol
If you like making biglaw money and plan to go in house eventually, it’s a good opportunity. lots of work but some nice partners, and very high quality work. If you have partner aspirations, or if you want to remain employed more than 3-5 years, go somewhere else.
Which office?
Feel free to DM me
It’s a good group. I think to the extent anyone on here isn’t at the firm, in the group, or in those offices, you need to take their comments with a grain of salt. LEPG does work hard, but it has good people and a cohesive team who look out for each other. There are also many folks who do not bill crazy hours, for what it’s worth. Feel free to DM me.

This is exactly the behavior we have been warning about. Lol
It’s scary how on point these comments are - both the positive and negative. But is a lot of money, high hours/stress, a tough road to partnership, sophisticated work, and a short lifespan for most Associates specific to Morgan Lewis LEPG? Sounds like just Big Law.
