Thoughts on starting in a cyber advisory firm from the ground up? Just applied to a position and during the interview today he said the team was just him (the director) and the CEO. They’re looking to have a team of 8 folks by July. I would be one of the first employees. Any insights?

It’s high risk. small firms open and shut everyday. Make sure your current pay is good and that you get seriously compensated if this grows.

It’s under a larger firm with about 800 employees. Just another subsidiary of that firm.

Do you have any other options? The main issue with advisory at smaller firms is usually the sales pipeline. Projects end all the time and you want to make sure that you won’t be laid off just because your project ends.

I could stay at my current company but recently was on a PIP and don’t want to risk getting laid off here either

For anyone who receives a quarterly bonus or raise in some form, does your employer start to schedule you for less hours when your raise kicks in, or pull you from a future schedule entirely once you receive a bonus; only to put you back on once the hours you would have worked and earned the amount given are passed? Ie; a part time employee getting $200.00 in a quarterly bonus and then not being scheduled a whole week during a bi-weekly pay period where they would have earned more on the clock…?

I'm a light sleeper who cares too much about the people around me, but I've got a flight to London next Friday from 7pm NYC time to 7am UK time, and I'd really like to master sleeping on a plane just this once and not be in jet lag hell for the entire day after I land. I'll be in premium economy in an aisle seat. I usually take melatonin before bed and sleep on my side. Does anyone have suggestions for an OTC sleeping pill or pillow that actually works, or other advice for sleeping on a plane?

Have any of you pursued a graduate certificate in cyber security? If so, did you find any value in it? I currently have Bachelors and Sec+. I’m looking to obtain my AWS CCP in the few coming weeks and was looking for what to get next. I entertain the idea of continuing to pursue my education but I don’t want to incur too much debt with a masters.
